We learned about machines last term. Here are some of the things we found out about; different parts of a machine; how machines had changed; pushing and pulling, The Falkirk Wheel; how we can get renewable energy AND we made a mess with Papier Mache! Phew!
We go to music lessons on a Tuesday with Miss Bell to learn about beat, musical instruments and singing etc. We decided to record the song we were singing about the book, The Very Busy Bee. We hope you like it!
Primary 1 learned the poem, ‘The Snawman’ for a Scottish poem competition to celebrate Robert Burns’ birthday. They all had to get up and say it in front of the class. They ‘all’ did very well indeed, and it was very hard to pick a winner. The photo below shows that Abbiegail won, with Cris 2nd and Mason 3rd. Well done!
We found out about the Chinese New Year celebrations and then made the Year of the Dragon masks, tried some origami on the Smartboard, made lovely Chinese lanterns, wrote some Chinese numbers and we even tried using some chopsticks. We think we did very well!!
See all of the things we got up to this Christmas. We researched some toys, made some cards and Angels for our trees. We also played games and listened to p6H singing carols. To end it all, we had great fun at our party!
Since we had our talk from Jennifer about litter, we have been keen to go around the playground to collect any litter we saw. We were pleased to see that Head of Muir girls and boys are very good at putting their litter in the bin but we did find some which we think must have blown in through the fence!!!
This term, primary 1 have been helping the Fairy Queen look after the enchanted forest. We came up with our own ideas how we thought we could stop people cutting down her forest. After the storm, we came up with ideas and made bridges and boats to help some stranded animals get back home. We also made up our own rules to help remind people how to look after the forest. To end this topic, we had a special visitor – The Fairy Queen (who some thought looked a bit like Mrs Watson!) She gave us a scroll, a drink and some fruits of her forest, to thank us for all the help we gave her!
On Friday the 2nd December, we celebrated St Andrew’s Day by singing The Wee Kirkcudbright Centipede in front of the whole school. We were first on and everyone said we were very good. Then we got to listen and watch as the other boys and girls in the school said poems, sang and Jennifer danced for us too. It was great fun!
We had great fun raising money for Children in Need on 18th November. We guessed teddy’s birthday, we bought Pudsey pencils and paid money to wear stripes and spots!
Here we are looking spotty and stripey!
